Cost breakdown
What actually moves the price of a garage floor
Slab preparation
Diamond grinding is the single biggest cost after materials. Old paint, tile glue or a sealed slab means more passes, more diamonds and more labour — that is why a 'poor condition' floor adds roughly $20 per m².
Floor size
Bigger floors get cheaper per square metre because setup, grinding equipment and travel are fixed costs. A single garage rarely drops below our $1,800 minimum job.
System build-up
A true flake system is three coats: epoxy basecoat, flake broadcast, then polyaspartic topcoat. Single-coat 'epoxy paint' quotes are cheaper because they skip two thirds of the job.
Extras and edges
Coving up the wall, steps, driveway aprons, anti-slip additive and moisture-barrier primers each add a real, quotable cost. Nothing here is hidden in the fine print.
Every ColourX floor carries a 5-year workmanship warranty and a 10-year manufacturer's adhesion warranty. Fully licensed and insured, servicing greater Melbourne.
